Mission
MISSION:
Our mission is to shine a light on the importance of mental wellness in our community while empowering young people to lead the change.
VISION:
We intend to create a community without stigma which promotes free and open discussion of emotions. Our main objective will be creating groups and community events that will be device-free activities in the exploration of the arts, outdoor exercise, and nature. We will engage with university and private practice physicians and other healthcare providers to provide 1) community education about various topics related to mental health and 2) to increase access to mental health providers.
The Goldfinch Foundation aims to improve the mental health of our community through partnering with our diverse artist community and strong infrastructure of physicians and scientists. We will research, promote, and collaborate with other organizations who promote mental wellness. We aim to be a central hub where individuals, families, and schools can find answers to their questions and discover which resource might be most suitable to their needs.
We have submitted IRS forms for 501c3 and are currently awaiting approval.
AIMS:
I. Create a community where there is no stigma when discussing feelings and which values mental health just as much as physical health
- Broaden access to the arts to encourage creative expression and device free environments
- Organize outdoor activities with exposure to nature and exercise
- Support projects which allow for more outdoor greenspaces
II. Educate young people about ways to optimize mental wellness so that they can lead the charge for change; while including families, coaches, mentors, and schools in educational efforts
III. Improve access to healthcare for those who need mental health services by partnering with academic and private practice clinicians
IV. Partner and collaborate with other organizations who share the same goals
V. Support and lobby for legislation to protect our children from online dangers
VI. Provide scholarship funding for research or local projects that aim to study and/or improve mental health
